Ted has undertaken to construct his gasifier as much as he can from stainless steel. Stainless steel is of course a low carbon steel containing chromium which gives the steel its unique stainless, and corrosion resisting properties.

You don't have to buy all new stainless steel as many scrap merchants have pieces or sheets that might be ideal for your project. Check out your local steel recycling merchant before you buy.
