Trailer Mounted Gasifier

A Wolseley tows the trailer-mounted gasifier below from 1943 in Yallourn, Victoria, Australia. This remarkable invention allowed vehicles to be powered by a combination of petrol and wood gas. With this system, the gasifier is towed behind the vehicle in a light and compact trailer unit. When not in use, the trailer can be unhitched from the vehicle for unencumbered driving on standard petrol fuel. This ingenious system enabled drivers to reduce their fuel consumption significantly.

Trailer Gasifiers More Information

A trailer-mounted gasifier is for those looking to reduce carbon footprints and move away from traditional forms of fuel. Towing a gasifier behind a vehicle, makesg transport and set up easy.

Gasifiers work by utilising wood chips, pellets, or sawdust as fuel. A chemical process of pyrolysis occurs on heating the fuel in a raection chamber. Pyrolysis converts biomass into volatile gases such as hydrogen for fuel. This process also produces ash, typically collected in a separate container for disposal.

The advantage over other energy generation methods is that the technology produces clean energy with minimal emissions. It does not require access to an electrical grid or any external power source. The system requires maintenance but no extensive training or knowledge about energy production.

Another benefit to using trailer-mounted gasifiers is that they are portable and easily stored when not in use. They’re also great for remote sites that lack reliable energy sources, such as campsites or farms.

Overall, trailer-mounted gasifiers provide clean energy with environmental benefits compared to traditional diesel engines and fossil fuels. In some situations, they make an ideal choice for sustainable alternatives when powering vehicles or devices on the go!
